A Summer Wedding at Chesterwood

Becca and Robby had an amazing wedding at Chesterwood here in the Berkshires last summer. They had me come in and shoot a couple hours of their rehearsal dinner at The Norman Rockwell Museum the night before, and it was amazing! They had their ceremony right down the road from me at her grandparents home, under the same apple tree that her mom and dad were married under! After the ceremony, we all moved down the road to Chesterwood, with cocktails in the lawn and the reception under a sweet tent by Classical Tents. Chesterwood is a beautiful and memorable backdrop for a Berkshires wedding or other special event. Daniel Chester French masterfully combined the elegance of his formal Italianate gardens with the natural rural landscape, creating unique settings and locations for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and dinner parties from small, intimate gatherings to events with up to 500 guests.

The panoramic views, historic terraces, hydrangea walk, perennial gardens, and sweeping lawns make gracious settings for your wedding and photographs. Chesterwood staff will work with you (and your wedding coordinator and vendors) to plan a beautiful wedding or private event.

Chesterwood, the summer home and studio of Daniel Chester French, best known for his iconic sculpture of the Abraham Lincoln for the Lincoln Memorial, masterly combines the elegance of his European gardens with the natural landscape of the Berkshires, to create a beautiful and memorable backdrop for a wedding. Here you will find formal, perennial gardens, sweeping lawns with natural woodland walks, and broad porches, all with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Whether your event is a small intimate gathering or a large celebration with 500 guests, Chesterwood offers a variety of locations for ceremonies and receptions.

The Chesterwood estate covers 129 acres (52.2 ha) of forest and field in the Taconic Mountains, in the heart of the cultural region of the Berkshires. Most of the estate’s buildings are clustered on the north side of Williamsville Road, including the house, studio, a 19th century barn which has been adapted as a museum gallery and visitor center, and other small outbuildings. On the south side of the road are a c. 1860 farmhouse, adapted for use as a caretaker’s residence, and a smaller studio space built by French to escape the sometimes busy atmosphere in the main studio. A path meanders through the woods to the north, which was supposedly used by French, and which is now seasonally decorated with sculpture by currently-active artists.

Eric Limon Photography has been in business for over 15 years and is based out of Housatonic MA in the beautiful Berkshires.  While I primarily cover the Berkshires, I am also available to travel outside of my area. I often photograph weddings in the Albany, Troy, Schenectady, Saratoga Springs, and Lake George areas, and out to Boston and the North Shore, and down to Cape Cod. Although I specialize in weddings, I also shoot engagements, families & commercial work.
