Katherine & MichaelWheatleighA Florentine Palazzo in the Berkshires

Katherine and Michael celebrated their love surrounded by friends and family and the absolutely majestic setting of one of my favorite venues anywhere, Wheatleigh.

Wheatleigh is an idyllic setting for any wedding, from a weekend celebration to a midweek getaway or a Sunday afternoon gathering. A Florentine palazzo atop a Berkshire knoll overlooking mountains and lake, Wheatleigh offers exquisite cuisine and guest accommodations, along with 22 private acres and terraced lawns.

A staircase lit by brilliant Tiffany windows leads to the Great Hall, porticos face rolling hills, and century old trees overhang the sculpture garden. All conspire to create an atmosphere that is at once intimate and grand.

Enjoy Wheatleigh as your own private estate for a weekend of festivities, from the prenuptial party, to the wedding dinner, to the farewell brunch. Chef Jeffrey Thompson will craft unique menus for every event. With attention to each detail and incomparable service from the first tasting through the departure of the last guest, Wheatleigh’s European trained staff will create the extraordinary wedding you envision.

Only two and a half hours by car from New York and Boston, there is no more romantic wedding destination than Wheatleigh.

Sam & LisaThe MountThe Estate of Edith Wharton

What an AMAZING day! The flowers, the food, the venue, and the weather all contributed to Sam & Lisa’s perfect wedding day.

From Lisa: Sam and I knew we wanted to get married near his family’s cottage in Stockbridge. Sam’s family has been going to the Berkshires over the summer for generations, and I grew up in Massachusetts, so it is a very special place for both our families. Some of our favorites times together when we were dating were visiting his family in the Berkshires-hiking, eating and touring the old mansions in the area. As soon as we toured The Mount we knew it was the right spot for us–we loved the idea of hosting all our family and friends in such a beautiful, grand house that also felt intimate and cozy.

We ended up with perfect sunny weather and beautiful foliage, which is not a guarantee in mid-October in the Berkshires!

Our favorite moments were walking the grounds with Eric while taking pictures, our puppy barking when she saw me coming down the aisle, signing the ketubah with our closest friends and family, seeing our friends and family arrive at The Mount, coming down to join the party after we took a few moments together after the ceremony, and then dancing for hours! Our guests really brought their a-game. Also, finding Sam on the dance floor with an entire pint of ice cream that our caterer had kindly reserved for him.

Exchange vows and mingle with loved ones against the backdrop of The Mount’s colorful, award-winning formal gardens or the elegant interior of Edith Wharton’s historic mansion. Spanning nearly 50 acres, the gracious, spectacular estate is the perfect setting for an unforgettable wedding. During your event, the entire estate is closed to the visiting public so you can host gatherings wherever you like on the property, and your guests can meander freely about.  You can get a feel for just how much your guests will enjoy this property by viewing this post.

After your ceremony in one of The Mount’s unique indoor or outdoor locations, you can host cocktails in the garden, dine in the formal rooms on the mansion’s main floor, and dance under the stars on the expansive terrace overlooking The Mount’s meticulously manicured property and the mountains beyond. Your guests are also invited to wander through the exhibits on the mansion’s third floor.
